The second stage of the fifth regional forum for working youth, held in Braslav, was dedicated to the theme of heritage, which young men and women view as the foundation of national unity and its most active segment – youth, as well as historical memory. Braslav region is a unique area in this regard, generously endowed with beautiful nature, historical and architectural monuments, and authentic culture. The local people have managed to preserve the centuries-old wisdom of the nation in traditions, rituals, and crafts, and have revived what was threatened with loss. The hospitality and diligence of the Braslav residents are well known. The organisers of the forum – the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee, the regional organisation of the BRSM, and the Braslav District Executive Committee – drew attention to all these aspects of life.
Welcoming the guests, the Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Vyacheslav Grishchenko, and the Chairman of the District Council, Nina Puchinskaya, spoke about the implementation of youth policy and initiatives in the district, the participation of young men and women in socio-political events, cultural and sports life, and the active stance of youth, their desire to contribute to the development of the region and the country.
The youth chamber operates successfully, over 20 young people are in the personnel reserve, more than 140 are engaged in entrepreneurial activities, and the District Executive Committee has established a scholarship to encourage talented and active youth.
Seminar participants were able to admire Braslav region from a bird's-eye view at Mayak Mountain, explore the exhibits of the Museum of Traditional Culture and the historical and ethnographic Vidzy College, and learn about cheese production at the Braslav workshop of Glubokoye MCC, as well as the study and living conditions of the college students.
In Vidzy, the republican campaign "Restoration of the Shrines of Belarus" was launched at the site of a military burial.
Participants of the forum shared their thoughts and impressions of what they had seen and heard at a dialogue platform, where they discussed the importance and significance of unity, heritage, and historical memory in the life of society, the creation of conditions for the development and realisation of youth potential, and, in particular, in such a promising area for Braslav region as tourism.
With achievements, actions, and deeds to enhance the glory of their districts and the entire country – it was with such feelings that the forum participants departed for home.
