23 March, Minsk /Yulia Vanina - BELTA/. In higher education institutions of the Ministry of Education of Belarus, student intake in 2011 is not planned to be reduced. At the same time, intake for individual specialities will be adjusted: admission targets will be redistributed towards increasing intake for specialities of technical, technical and technological profiles, energy, construction, as well as for specialities related to IT technologies. This was announced today at a press conference "Development of Higher Education in the Republic of Belarus" by the Minister of Education Sergey Maskevich, BELTA correspondent reports. According to the minister, there will be no reduction in intake for full-time study in higher education institutions of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Sport and Tourism, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Agriculture and Food. Everything will remain at last year's level. However, admission to higher education institutions of the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Health for state-funded study will be reduced. "In the future," emphasised Sergey Maskevich, "admission targets will need to be adjusted taking into account the demographic situation." In 2011, it is planned to admit 32.9 thousand people to higher education institutions of Belarus for state-funded study. Of these, 25 thousand people will become full-time students, and 7.9 thousand will be part-time students. In 2010, 33.2 thousand people were admitted to state-funded places, which is 300 students more than planned for this year. -0-
