21 July, Minsk / Yekaterina Nechayeva - BELTA /. The gross domestic product growth rate of Belarus for the period 2011-2015 should be 162-168%. This was stated by Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky today at a meeting of the republican organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the fourth All-Belarusian People's Assembly, according to a BELTA correspondent.
According to the Prime Minister, the basis for increasing gross domestic product should be large-scale accelerated modernization of the economy, as well as the creation of new breakthrough directions. This is dictated by the fact that the country has few raw material resources. The economy is extremely dependent on the import of energy resources and raw materials. "Reality dictates that we should live by high qualifications, the intellect of specialists, and the development of low-resource-intensive high-tech industries with a high added value share," said Sergei Sidorsky.
The Prime Minister emphasized that in the next 5 years, the government will prioritize the qualitative indicators of economic development. "This primarily includes sales profitability, labor productivity growth rates, and exports of goods and services," he explained.
