On August 3, Minsk /BelTA correspondent/. The next stage of preparation for the elections of deputies to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the fifth convocation - the nomination of candidates for precinct election commissions - will be completed on August 5. This was reported to a BelTA correspondent by Nikolai Lozovik, Secretary of the Central Election Commission of Belarus for Elections and Referendums. Political parties, other public associations, work collectives, as well as citizens by submitting applications can propose their representatives for positions in the precinct commission. According to the legislation, a precinct commission can consist of 5 to 19 people. According to Nikolai Lozovik, the most optimal option based on developed practice is 13-15 people. "As a rule, there are 1.5-2 times more applications for participation in the work of commissions, so district and city executive committees and local administrations have the opportunity to choose. The selection criteria have also been worked out in practice. These should be people who know, respect and comply with the law, and enjoy authority among voters," said the CEC Secretary. In parallel with the nomination of candidates for precinct commissions, political parties and work collectives are determining who among their representatives will compete for the right to take a deputy seat. Initiative groups of contenders for a seat in parliament are collecting signatures. Nikolai Lozovik recalled that persons nominated as candidates for deputies of the House of Representatives must submit the necessary documents for registration to the district commissions by August 13 inclusive. The CEC Secretary noted that the electoral process in Belarus is proceeding according to plan, gradually gaining momentum. One of the most active stages is ahead - pre-election campaigning, which will start from the day of registration of candidates for deputies and will continue until September 22. The main voting day for the parliamentary elections is scheduled for September 23.
