On June 28, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The development of joint non-standard offensive measures to combat crime is a priority task for the internal affairs bodies of Belarus and Russia. This was stated today by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus, Igor Shunevich, at the opening of the joint board of the internal affairs ministries of the Union State in Vitebsk, according to a BELTA correspondent. The Minister noted that the achieved level of interaction between the internal affairs bodies of the two states allows for effective counteraction to crime, proactive influence on manifestations of the criminal environment, and ensuring the safety of citizens. As a result of joint actions: a decrease in the number of crimes, a reduction in serious and particularly serious crimes, including intentional murders, intentional serious property crimes, and drug-related crimes. At the same time, Igor Shunevich stated that the activity of international terrorism is not decreasing, and corruption and illegal migration continue to pose a real threat to security. "The constant search for joint non-standard offensive measures to combat transnational criminal manifestations is a priority task and a necessary condition for ensuring control over crime," he stressed. To realize the existing potential, it is necessary to give concrete substance to the achieved interstate, intergovernmental, and interdepartmental agreements, and to carry out meticulous work at all levels: from the ministry apparatus to the district unit of the internal affairs bodies. The success of the fight against crime and offenses depends on the commonality and coordination of the actions of law enforcement officers. In organizing this work, according to Igor Shunevich, a significant role is assigned to the development of information communication systems and technologies, and the creation of a well-established and stable tool for information exchange. Extremism and terrorism have become a serious problem for the world community. The organization of work to counter this type of crime requires joint efforts of states and law enforcement agencies. Belarus is actively implementing a set of preventive measures to suppress extremist manifestations, said Igor Shunevich, and specifically emphasized the effectiveness of interaction with Russian colleagues in countering the activities of persons involved in the trafficking of weapons, explosives, prone to committing terror, and countering ethnic criminal formations.
