On September 9, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. High-tech diagnostic and treatment methods in pediatric otorhinolaryngology are being successfully implemented in Belarus. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Marina Pesotskaya, the chief freelance pediatric otorhinolaryngologist of the Ministry of Health of Belarus. She is taking part in the scientific and practical conference "Topical Issues of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology" held in Vitebsk. The main direction of modern otorhinolaryngology is the use of minimally invasive, organ-preserving operations. Thus, capillary implantation has been introduced in Belarus, which involves a set of measures, including complex surgical intervention, allowing for the rehabilitation of completely deaf children (from birth or who have lost hearing due to illness or injury) and their integration into the environment of healthy peers, avoiding disability. Early audiological screening in children is also being introduced, aimed at the earliest possible detection of deafness and hearing loss in infants, which allows for timely subsequent rehabilitation of patients. In this case, it is especially important that rehabilitation measures begin in children under one year of age. The first results of the implementation of the high-tech diagnostic method in Belarus, presented at the conference, indicate a decrease in the average age of patients operated on for congenital deafness. "In the future, we expect even better rehabilitation results for young patients," noted Marina Pesotskaya. In general, the pediatric otorhinolaryngology service approached the conference with good results and high quality of work organization in all regions of the country. The Vitebsk region holds leading positions in this area; the initiative and practice of Vitebsk specialists in implementing surgical interventions in children with ENT diseases under general anesthesia have been disseminated throughout the country. Leading specialists from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine are participating in the conference. Over two days, researchers and practicing doctors will consider a wide range of issues related to the prevention and treatment of ENT diseases in children and adolescents, and will also discuss the application of high-tech diagnostic and treatment methods in otorhinolaryngology. The conference will conclude with resolutions aimed at the further development of pediatric otorhinolaryngology services in Belarus.
