On March 5, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. A series of events dedicated to Women's Day has started today in the Vitebsk region, reports a BELTA correspondent. In the regional centre, the first of many pleasant events dedicated to the holiday of spring and women was an exhibition of watercolours by Mikhail Levkovich, which opened at the V. Lenin Vitebsk Regional Library. The works, capturing portraits of various ladies, reflect all the best inherent in women – beauty, femininity, wisdom, tenderness, kindness. Almost every day of the current week will be marked by an event dedicated to women. Thematic literature exhibitions have already been launched in the region's libraries, and poetry evenings have been prepared. A grand celebratory concert in honour of the holiday will take place on March 7 at the "Vitebsk" concert hall. The Complex of Cultural and Recreational Activities named after the Soviet Army invites you to spend the next day actively and cheerfully, where an interesting entertainment programme will be held. On March 9-10, folk festivals will take place in the city, and the exhibition-fair of works by folk craftsmen, artists and students "Vitebsk Vernissage" will be open. The Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic has prepared a real gift. On March 11, the concert "Melodies of Spring" will be held here. Oksana Novikova, Valery Bruiko and other soloists of the philharmonic will perform well-known songs: "Flowers under the Snow", "Simply to Love", "Everything Around Became Blue and Green", "Somewhere in the White World" and instrumental music by A. Piazzolla in an unexpected cimbalom sound. Similar events will be held during these days in other regions of the oblast. For example, in Orsha, a competition and entertainment evening for youth "Woman is Always a Mystery" will take place, in Postavy – a literary and musical evening "And when they say 'beauty', I always imagine a woman", in Sharkovshchyna district – a competition programme "Little Beauty - 2012".-0-
