Belarus's engagement with WIPO has intensified in recent years.

The Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Yury Ambrazevich, met with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Daren Tang.

The meeting took place at the WIPO headquarters. Yury Ambrazevich congratulated Daren Tang on his appointment as head of WIPO and emphasized the practical significance of Belarus's cooperation with the organization on the entire spectrum of intellectual property protection issues. The parties positively noted the significant intensification of WIPO's interaction with Belarus in recent years and confirmed their mutual readiness to expand cooperation with an emphasis on supporting innovation, commercialization of intellectual property, as well as the development in Belarus of a system for pre-trial settlement of IP disputes.

On October 22, 2020, Belarus joined the WIPO Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired or Otherwise Unable to Read Printed. The State Committee on Science and Technology and the National Center of Intellectual Property are working on Belarus's accession to the WIPO Hague Agreement, which will allow it to become a full participant in the international system for the registration of industrial designs. The organization provides practical assistance to Belarus in the development of the intellectual property system.
