The XIV Belarusian International Media Forum opens today in Brest

The XIV Belarusian International Media Forum "Partnership for the Future: Journalism and Social Protection of Society" opens today in Brest, reports BELTA.

Representatives from 25 countries will take part in the two-day event. Government and public figures, diplomats, representatives of the expert and media community, and journalists from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Great Britain, Hungary, Germany, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, Poland, Russia, Serbia, the USA, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, France, and Estonia will gather in Brest. In total, delegations will comprise over 250 people, including about 100 foreign guests.

The plenary session of the media forum will be held at the tourist complex "Usadba Rynkovka" (Tyukhynichi village, Brest district). The work will then continue in sections. The topics chosen for panel discussions are "Media Space and Information Security," "The Impact of Social Networks and the Blogosphere on Shaping Public Opinion. Expanding the Presence of State Content Therein," and "Modern Trends in Internet Journalism and its Role in Solving Socio-Political Problems of Regions."

On the second day of the forum, a Summer School of Journalism will be held on the topic "Modern Journalism and Social Media." Leading journalists from Belarus and Russia will conduct master classes at the Brest State University on modern information technologies in television production, the role of bloggers in promoting content in the modern media space, the art of discussion on modern television, and others. A round table meeting "Union State: 20 Years in the Media Space. Results and Prospects" will also take place.

The program will conclude with an excursion around Brest titled "No One is Forgotten, Nothing is Forgotten," dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. Participants and guests will visit the largest monument in the post-Soviet space to the courage of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War – the memorial complex "Brest Fortress – Hero."

Over the years, the forum has expanded its scope in terms of both relevant thematic areas and participant composition, becoming an authoritative dialogue and discussion platform for exchanging opinions, and developing new ideas and concepts by representatives of the expert and media communities from CIS countries, as well as near and far abroad. However, one of the main focuses of the event is the discussion of the role of media in interstate development, the strengthening of common humanitarian values, and the promotion of mutual understanding between countries and peoples. Therefore, the forum's motto, "Partnership for the Future," remains unchanged from year to year.

The Belarusian International Media Forum is organised by the Ministry of Information, the Standing Committee of the Union State, with the support of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, the CIS Executive Committee, and the Belarusian Association of Journalists.
