16 August, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Grain growers of the Vitebsk region have threshed 1 million tonnes of grain, the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
This significant milestone for the region was reached today despite challenging weather conditions. As of 16 August, 64% of the areas designated for harvesting have been cleared in the region, with over 1 million tonnes of grain threshed at an average yield of 32 centners per hectare. The harvesting campaign is progressing most actively in the Gluboksky, Dokshitsky, Lepelsky, and Chashniksky districts, where over 70% of the areas have been cleared. The highest yields this year are noted in the Verkhnedvinsky, Orshansky, and Chashniksky districts.
More than 2,000 combine harvesters and over 3,000 transport units are working daily in the region's grain fields. Work is in full swing at 780 facilities for drying and processing grain.
The results and quality of the harvest are achieved through targeted work to improve farming practices and soil fertility, and the implementation of the regional program "Clean Fields," as emphasized by the Regional Committee for Agriculture and Food. -0-
