Polotsk, in a spirit of hospitality, is setting a two-kilometre-long "table" for its guests in honour of its anniversary, the Polotsk City Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. For three festive days, from morning until midnight, producers from the Dvina region, trade and public catering enterprises will set a two-kilometre-long "table" along Francis Skorina Avenue and Gogol Street. Forty-eight economic entities of the region will present their products. The trade fair, named "Ribbon of Time", is designed for 2,000 seats and is divided into several time segments: "Ancient Polotsk", "Princely Polotsk", "Enlightenment Polotsk", "Merchant Polotsk", "Polotsk Fair", "Polotsk of the 20th Century", "Modern Polotsk". Each time segment has its own colour symbol and characters. For instance, "Ancient Polotsk" will be presented in burgundy and unbleached linen colours. Guests will be greeted by a Krivich man and woman in linen shirts. "Polotsk of the 20th Century" will transport visitors to Soviet times. Ploughshares, sacks of grain, a cart, and the slogan: "Come to our collective farm, comrade!" will undoubtedly make older generations recall the past. The half-kilometre stretch will be occupied by the courtyards of district centres of the Vitebsk region, featuring catering facilities and exhibitions-sales of handicrafts. Approximately 300 artisans will participate in the "City of Masters". The celebrations for the 1150th anniversary of Polotsk will commence on 25 May. Festive events will be held in the city until 5 June.-0-
