A pharmaceutical manufacturing holding company is being established in Belarus. The corresponding Decree No. 258 was signed by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, as reported to BELTA by the press service of the Head of State.

The establishment of the holding company is aimed at improving property relations and increasing the efficiency of state asset management. This will be achieved by ensuring the independence of licensing bodies, state registration of medicines, and production certification from the interests of state-owned manufacturers, which aligns with global practices, as well as by consolidating pharmaceutical companies to enhance their competitiveness in global markets, maximize their value through asset consolidation, optimize management structures, and reduce costs.

The holding company will be open to enterprises of all forms of ownership and any departmental subordination.

Furthermore, in accordance with the decree, the Department of the Pharmaceutical Industry is being liquidated. The state regulation functions it performed in the pharmaceutical sector will be retained within the Ministry of Health.
