24 February, Vitebsk /Alena Tikhonova - BELTA/. Farms in the Vitebsk region are 100% supplied with seeds of all spring crops, the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
"The supply of seeds for spring grain crops exceeds 100% of the basic and reserve funds. High-quality seeds are being supplied to farms – elite, first and second reproduction. The region is fully supplied with seeds for potatoes, flax, and rapeseed," the Regional Committee for Agriculture and Food stressed.
Currently, districts are actively accumulating mineral fertilizers. On average across the region, the supply is 31%, which is 7 percentage points higher than in the same period last year. The supply of plant protection products is also higher than last year. Farms have received 30% of seed treatment agents (in Gorodok and Rossony districts, this figure is about 80%), 13% of herbicides, and 19% of fungicides.
"One of the biggest problems this spring is the high percentage of winter rapeseed loss. In the western districts, this figure will be 70-80%," the Regional Committee for Agriculture and Food noted, emphasizing that this is due to the low-snow winter. "Forecasts for winter cereals will be possible later, once positive temperatures are established in the region."
This same circumstance is the main prerequisite for going out into the fields. Equipment is being actively prepared, and tractors will start working in the fields as soon as the soil dries. -0-
