Agricultural organisations' storage facilities in the Vitebsk region are ready for storing produce for the inter-seasonal period, the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. In the upcoming inter-seasonal period, 78 storage facilities with a capacity of about 50,000 tonnes will be used for potato storage in agricultural organisations in the Vitebsk region, including 30 standard facilities and 48 adapted ones. Three fruit storage facilities will be used for apple storage (RUP "Tolochin Cannery" with a capacity of 2.4 thousand tonnes, GSCHU "Luzhesnyanskaya Variety Testing Station" for 200 tonnes, and ChSUP "Radunskoye" in the Orsha district for 500 tonnes). All fruit storage facilities are equipped with special refrigeration equipment maintaining a microclimate. The readiness of the region's agricultural organisations' storage facilities was checked by specialists from the Regional Committee for Agriculture and Food last week. "Overall, all facilities are prepared for operation in the autumn-winter period. Minor deficiencies and remarks identified during the inspection were rectified in the usual course of work," the committee noted. In addition, four more potato storage facilities are currently under construction in the region: at KFH "Varmus" for 7,000 tonnes, RUP "Tolochin Cannery" for 12,000 tonnes, the Vitebsk Zonal Institute of Agriculture of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for 2,000 tonnes, and OAO "Kushliki" for 4,000 tonnes.
