24 March, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. The XX International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" will be held from July 8 to 14, 2011. This was announced today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by Vladimir Terentyev, Head of the Culture Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, according to a BELTA correspondent. The formation of the concert and theatre programs is still ongoing. "They will be designed to attract more spectators and increase the festival's cost recovery," emphasized Vladimir Terentyev. It is expected that Nikolai Baskov, the art groups Khor Turetskogo and Soprano10, Alexander Rosenbaum, the ballet company under the direction of Boris Eifman, and Mireille Mathieu will take part in the opening of the anniversary festival. The culmination of the concert, as promised by Vladimir Terentyev, will be a performance by the band Space with Didier Marouani. The event will conclude with a laser show set to the space music of the band. Belarus Day at the festival will for the first time feature an exhibition of the republic's achievements in various fields: science, technology, production, and, of course, culture. The Yanka Kupala National Academic Theatre will stage the play "Pinskaya Shlyakhta," and the exhibition halls will showcase works by Belarusian artists who participated in the "Zyamlya pad belymi krylami" campaign. In the evening, a concert by Angelica Agurbash and her friends Dmitry Malikov, Alexander Marshal, and Alexander Buynov will take place. On Russia Culture Day, the Pyatnitsky Russian Folk Choir, celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2011, will perform. On Union State Day, the ensemble "Syabry" will perform on the stage of the Summer Amphitheatre. Following a good tradition, solo concerts by popular artists will be held. Mireille Mathieu, Elena Vaenga, Maxim Galkin, Lyubov Uspenskaya, Nadezhda Kadysheva, Valery Meladze, Avraam Russo, Alexander Rosenbaum, Khor Turetskogo, and the band Mumiy Troll are expected to delight their fans. Performances by Sergey Lazarev and the singer MakSim will take place on the open-air stage on Pobedy Square. According to Vladimir Terentyev, 25 concerts are planned, compared to 19 in 2010. The main intrigue of the festival, as for the past 20 years, will be the international competition for young performers. The winner will be determined over two competition days. Experienced pop artists will support the aspiring singers. Among them is Kristina Orbakaite, who will give a solo concert in the second part of one of the competition concerts.
