The district organisation of the Belarusian Association of the Visually Impaired currently has 84 members, including 19 individuals with Group I disability. These are people with very limited capabilities who require attention and support from society.

From 15 October to 15 November, the "Person with a White Cane" month-long campaign is being held. Letters have been sent to the heads of enterprises and organisations from which visually impaired individuals have retired, requesting material assistance. The milk and canned goods plant, PMK-75, and several other work collectives have responded with great care. These organisations are not indifferent to human misfortune and are ready not only to offer words of sympathy but also to provide practical help. It is to be hoped that other enterprises and organisations will also find the financial resources to assist visually impaired individuals in their difficult daily lives. Compassion has always been characteristic of Belarusians.

The "Person with a White Cane" month-long campaign programme includes various events, such as a round table discussion with representatives from the housing and communal services department of the district executive committee, the central district hospital, the health improvement department, Lepel Housing and Communal Services Unit (LKUVUP ZhKG "Lepel"), and the State Automobile Inspectorate.
