On June 12, at a meeting with the leadership of the Presidential Administration, the Head of State Alexander Lukashenko announced upcoming meetings with the leadership of the National Bank and the National Academy of Sciences, BELTA correspondent reports.
"In the near future, we will hold a similar meeting at the Presidential level with the staff and leadership of the National Bank. Then we will have to organize and hold a congress of scientists. Science must be taken seriously. This sphere in the Presidential Administration is practically excluded, and I do not see it in the work on organizing the process of scientific activity, especially obtaining results," said Alexander Lukashenko.
The Head of State explained that the necessity of holding a meeting at the NAS is due, among other things, to recent personnel changes. As is known, Vladimir Karanik, who previously served as Deputy Prime Minister, was appointed Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on May 22. The President made it clear that this is not the only personnel change and others will follow. "In connection with the changes that have occurred and will occur in the leadership of the Academy of Sciences (a thematic meeting needs to be held. - BELTA note). They will occur - this is also a topic that concerns not only me, but you first of all," he said.
