The rescue operation, which began around 4 a.m. today in the Tolochin district, has concluded, and the man has been handed over to medics. However, doctors are concerned for the life of the 54-year-old resident of Minsk. It turned out that he had previously undergone heart surgery, and wandering for four hours in the winter forest, waiting for rescuers, and an almost three-hour trek to the nearest settlement is a difficult ordeal even for a healthy person. Therefore, the doctors did not risk transporting him to the hospital immediately. He is currently receiving emergency medical assistance in one of the private houses in Talaskovshchina. It is possible that an ambulance with resuscitation equipment will be needed to transport him to the hospital. As reported, information about a man lost in the forest near the village of Pankovichi, Tolochin district, was received by the duty officer of the District Department of Internal Affairs today at 3:50 a.m. from Minsk. It turned out that the man, born in 1958, who was rushing to his mother's funeral, got off the train at the Krasnaya Gorka station and headed through the forest to the village of Pankovichi, hoping to shorten the journey. However, he was unable to find the summer paths in the snow-covered forest. After wandering for about four hours, he called his wife in Minsk and told her that he could not find his way. His wife contacted the Tolochin District Department of Internal Affairs. Police officers with a tracking dog, emergency rescue service personnel were sent to search for the lost man, gamekeepers were involved, and two vehicles were used. Communication with the man was maintained via mobile phone. Unfortunately, by this time he was already exhausted and could neither light a fire nor respond to the signals from the cars that were being given to him. It was not easy for people to find him in the snow-covered forest at night; a tracking dog helped, which picked up the trail and led two police officers to the dying man.
