Citizens of the Republic of Belarus are prohibited from independently going into the forest and cutting down a tree. Individuals can procure firewood, as well as fallen, deadwood, or damaged timber, in forests upon presentation of an order in accordance with the Forest Code of the Republic of Belarus. To obtain an order, it is necessary to apply for permission at the nearest forestry. For this purpose, you need to visit the organisation with your passport and fill out an application for felling on the spot. It should be noted that the cost may vary depending on certain factors, such as the tree species. After the invoice is paid, the citizen receives an order specifying the deadlines for harvesting and removal of timber, and the method of clearing the felling site.
A forestry worker will personally escort you to a designated forest area and show you the trees to be felled (they will have special markings). Transport and tools for timber harvesting are not provided – individuals must arrange for these themselves. Typically, one month is allocated for such work. Once the firewood has been harvested, it is necessary to contact the forestry again for a forestry worker to measure the harvested timber, after which its removal will be permitted.
