On October 17, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Territory contamination tops the list of sanitary and epidemiological legislation violations by economic entities in the Vitebsk region. This was announced today at a press conference by Vladimir Sinkevich, Chief Physician of the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. In January-September of this year, specialists from territorial centers for hygiene and epidemiology inspected 4.1 thousand economic entities, comprising almost 11 thousand supervised facilities with adjacent territories. Sanitary and epidemiological violations were identified at nearly 1.8 thousand facilities. The primary violation detected during inspections was the contamination of territories of facilities and populated areas (33.6%). Also widespread are unsatisfactory sanitary and technical and sanitary-hygienic maintenance of sites for temporary collection and storage of solid municipal waste (11.4%), untimely waste removal (10.8%), unsatisfactory condition of yard territories (6%), and damage to the integrity of asphalt road surfaces (2.9%). In total, during the reporting period, 759 unauthorized dumps were identified and eliminated in accordance with the directives of territorial state sanitary inspection bodies. These violations were noted in all districts of the region. For the identified violations, responsible individuals were fined over Br290 million. 2.3 thousand directives were issued to enterprise administrations for the elimination of identified violations (93% of which have been fulfilled). In addition, since the beginning of the year, over 40 thousand homestead territories have been inspected, with violations of landscaping and sanitary conditions identified in 13.5% of cases.
