Applications for participation in the qualifying rounds of the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" contests - the "Vitebsk" International Pop Song Performers Contest and the "Vitebsk" International Children's Music Contest - are accepted until April 1. This was reported to BELTA correspondent by the Arts Department of the Ministry of Culture of Belarus.
Vocalists with concert performance experience, who have made a name for themselves with successes in republican and international contests and festivals, aged 18 to 35 inclusive, can participate in the qualifying round of the "senior" contest. In the qualifying round of the "junior" music competition, children aged 7 to 12, participants of republican and international level contests and festivals, will try their hand.
The qualifying rounds will be held in two stages. The first stage - listening to audio and viewing video materials - is conducted by an expert group until April 10. Based on its results, experts will select 10 participants for each contest. The second stage - listening to professional jury members of performers who have successfully passed the first stage - will be held until April 20 at the Youth Estrada Theatre. Performers will perform accompanied by a minus-one backing track.
To participate in the first stage of the qualifying round, performers must prepare a video recording of two songs of their choice, not exceeding four minutes in duration; for the second stage - two compositions, not exceeding four minutes in duration, performed with a minus-one backing track.
A mandatory condition for participation in the second stage is the selection of a pop song by a Belarusian author in the Belarusian language (for participants of the adult and children's contests); a pop song by a composer from a Slavic country in one of the Slavic languages (for participants of "Vitebsk-2011"); any pop song (of their choice) that most vividly reflects the performer's mastery and artistic abilities (for participants of the children's contest "Vitebsk-2011"). Songs at different stages may be repeated.
Artists selected by the jury members will undergo professional training for their performance at the final qualifying concert, where they will also perform accompanied by a minus-one backing track. Based on the performance results, the jury will name one participant of the "Vitebsk-2011" International Pop Song Performers Contest and one participant in each age group of the "Vitebsk-2011" International Children's Music Contest.
An expert group and a professional jury will be formed from leading specialists in the field of musical stage art, and renowned cultural and art figures.
Musicians should send their applications by registered parcel to the following address: 220004, Minsk, Pobediteley Ave., 11, Ministry of Culture, with a note depending on the age of the participants: "Qualifying round of the "Vitebsk" competition (adults)" or "Qualifying round of the "Vitebsk" competition (children)". The last day for receiving parcels is April 1st.
