Would you like to earn five million roubles or more? Then get a job at a dairy farm. At least, at the farm in Veleŭščyna of SPP "Prazhjektar", the milkmaids earn exactly that much.
The "Veleŭščyna" dairy farm is part of the agricultural production enterprise "Prazhjektar". For many years, it was considered one of the worst in the district and was on the verge of closure. This issue was discussed more than once at various levels.
However, in a remote village like Veleŭščyna, the farm is almost the only place of employment. Closing it would mean signing the final death sentence for the settlement. Therefore, the task is not only economic but also social, and a lot of effort was put into solving it at the time.
Time has passed, realities have changed, and the efforts made have yielded rich results. 17 people work at the production facility; under the leadership of the farm manager, Larisa Sadouskaya, milkmaids, livestock breeders, and fitters care for the livestock.
In total, the farm has 530 head of cattle, including 211 dairy cows. The gross milk yield is over 4650 kilograms per day, with 22 litres per cow. The commercial yield of products is 91 percent, with 76-78 percent being of extra grade.
Since the beginning of the year, 175 calves have been born at the farm, with a survival rate of 83%.
Every year, the farm takes leading positions in the regional competition. In September 2010, they took first place. Last year, the author of these lines visited together with the chairman of the district trade union committee of agricultural complex workers, Siarhiej Marcinovič, to congratulate the work collective and present a diploma and valuable gifts. The occasion was that the farm took second place in the region based on the results of work for July.
This March, the farm's team again took second place in the regional competition. In one month, the milkmaids milked 132.7 tonnes of milk, achieving a production increase of 51 percent compared to the same period last year. These indicators became key in awarding the Veleŭščyna workers a prize-winning place.
In addition to the diploma, the workers were presented with a coffee service, a bread bin for buns and pastries, and from the management of SPP – aromatic coffee and a wall clock.
