A cyclist, as a driver, must observe the traffic regulations and remember the responsibility that lies with them.

According to the Traffic Regulations, riding a bicycle is permitted on a bicycle path, and in its absence – on the shoulder, pavement, or pedestrian path, without creating obstacles to the safe movement of pedestrians.

Cyclists are prohibited from:
• riding without holding the handlebars or keeping their feet on the pedals;
• carrying passengers, except for carrying children under 7 years of age on an additional specially equipped seat;
• carrying cargo that extends more than 0.5 meters in length or width beyond the dimensions, or cargo that interferes with control;
• turning left or making a U-turn on roads with tram traffic and on roads with more than one lane of traffic in the given direction (in this case, you must dismount and cross the road at a pedestrian crossing);
• towing a bicycle and being towed by a bicycle, except for a factory-produced bicycle trailer.

When riding on a road at night and in conditions of insufficient visibility, the bicycle must be equipped with: a lamp emitting white light at the front, and a lamp emitting red light at the rear.

When crossing the roadway at a pedestrian crossing, the cyclist must walk the bicycle next to them and be guided by the requirements stipulated by the Regulations for pedestrian traffic.

The State Automobile Inspectorate of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee urges all road users to strictly observe the Traffic Regulations. Car drivers need to be more attentive to cyclists, as accidents involving them have the most severe consequences. And drivers of "two-wheeled" vehicles must study and strictly adhere to the traffic regulations and personal safety measures.
