The Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee lost his position after a direct telephone line held today by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, with the region's residents, BELTA correspondent reports. A tough decision was made after another caller to the direct line complained about the low quality of capital repair work on a house in Vitebsk. Previously, residents of this house had attended a personal meeting with the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, after which the official was instructed to fulfill the legal requirements of the citizens. "We must respect people. The resolution of their issues should be treated as the resolution of personal problems," emphasized Alexander Kosinets. He also demanded that in case of repeated appeals from citizens, tough measures, up to dismissal, should be taken against managers who failed to help people. "If you promised to do something, you must do it, not drag your feet," said the governor. During the direct line, several calls were also received regarding heating problems in Vitebsk. In this regard, on the governor's instructions, within the next two days, employees of the housing management offices of the regional center, as well as Orsha, Polotsk, and Novopolotsk, will re-inspect the condition of the heating networks and the provision of heat to residential buildings and dormitories. -0-
