23 November, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Western European traders have shown interest in the new product of OJSC "Verkhnedvinsk Dairy Plant" - dry demineralised whey, the director of the enterprise, Petr Lavrinov, informed a BELTA correspondent.
With the commissioning of a workshop for the production of dry whey with various degrees of demineralisation – purification from dissolved salts – in the summer of the current year, Verkhnedvinsk cheesemakers began to produce products that are in high demand in foreign markets. Whey, obtained during milk processing, is rich in milk proteins, lactoglobulin, lactalbumin, and immunoglobulin. Due to salt purification, dry whey can be used in the food and pharmaceutical industries, and it is recommended for the production of baby food.
As Petr Lavrinov explained, to work with Western European companies, the enterprise needs to undergo a production certification procedure. This work has already begun.
The new workshop of the enterprise is designed to dry 200 tons of whey per day. Currently, the capacities are loaded by 90%. The workshop processes whey obtained from cheese production, as well as raw materials from three dairy processing enterprises in the region. With the launch of new production, the enterprise has created a waste-free production and solved environmental problems with whey disposal.
The investment project was implemented in accordance with the state program for processing whey and producing dry milk.
Based on the results of work for 10 months, the enterprise produced products at current prices for Br105 billion. The growth rate compared to last year was 163%. Products worth almost $17 million were exported, which is 37.7% more than in January-October 2010, with a positive foreign trade balance. The net profit of the enterprise amounted to almost Br17 billion with a sales profitability of 19.3%.
The Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Factory traces its history back to 1932. The enterprise was incorporated in 1999, with the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee as its founder. The state owns 95.3% of the shares. The factory specializes in the production of hard rennet cheeses, butter, and dry whey. Within the milk processing structure, over 60% is allocated to cheese production. The product range includes over 20 types of products. The enterprise has registered the trademarks "Yan Sirodel" and "Ulyanka" with the National Center of Intellectual Property. OJSC "Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Factory" was the first in Belarus to receive certificates of conformity to the LST EN ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System and LST EN ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety System.-0-
