A belated Indian summer is expected in Belarus this weekend, Lyudmila Parashchuk, chief meteorologist at the Republican Hydrometeorological Centre, told a BELTA correspondent. According to her, today's weather fully corresponds to a late Indian summer. As the chief meteorologist explained, a large-scale influx of tropical heat from the Mediterranean is occurring in the troposphere. In recent days, the average daily temperature has been 4-9 degrees above the climatic norm. Such temperatures are more characteristic of late September. In the next 24 hours, on October 19, an anticyclone will dominate the weather, so no significant precipitation is expected in Belarus. Fog will thicken in some areas at night and in the first half of the day. The wind will be southerly at 3-8 metres per second, with gusts reaching 12 metres per second in the west during the day. The air temperature at night will be 1-6 degrees Celsius, with frost down to zero to minus 2 degrees expected in some places. During the day, the temperature will range from plus 12 degrees in the northeast to plus 18 degrees in the southwest of the country. On Saturday and Sunday, the atmospheric situation will remain unchanged. No precipitation is expected in the country over the weekend. Fog will thicken in places at night and in the morning. At night, the air temperature will be 3-8 degrees Celsius. During the day, the air will warm up to 13-18 degrees. At the beginning of next week, an area of high atmospheric pressure will persist in many regions of the country, with an atmospheric front approaching the northern regions only during daylight hours. In this regard, on Monday, October 22, no precipitation is forecast for many regions of Belarus, with only light, short-term rain possible in the daytime in the northern Vitebsk region. Fog will thicken in places across the country at night and in the morning. The air temperature at night will be plus 3-10 degrees Celsius. During the day, the air temperature will range from 10 degrees Celsius in the north to plus 17 degrees in the south of the country. On Tuesday, October 23, a slightly active atmospheric front will move across Belarus from north to south. As the chief meteorologist explained, it will bring little rain, but some temperature drops are expected. Short-term rains will occur in places across the country. Fog will thicken at night and in the morning in some areas. The wind will be northwesterly at 4-9 metres per second. At night, the air temperature will be 4-9 degrees Celsius, with night temperatures in the northern regions as low as zero to minus 2 degrees. During the day, the air will warm up from 6 degrees in the north to 13 degrees in the south of the country.
