On September 19, Mogilev / Sergey Kulyagin - BELTA /. Decent wages must be earned, not artificially inflated. This opinion was expressed in a conversation with a BELTA correspondent by Svetlana Tarasenko, Chairperson of the Committee for Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee, commenting on the tasks set at a meeting with the President of Belarus on September 11. According to the specialist, all necessary measures are currently being taken in the region to ensure that wage growth is closely linked to labour productivity. As revenue per employee increases, so does wages. And for this, every enterprise manager has the necessary tools: from modernising and re-equipping production, implementing modern high-performance technologies, increasing exports, to elementary savings and reducing material costs. The majority of industrial enterprises and construction complex enterprises in the Mogilev region are currently operating on the basis of the above principles. Hence the result: in the region, there are practically no economic entities left in the industrial sector and construction industry where the average wage is below $300 in equivalent terms. In the region, as of September 1, there were no organisations at all where the average wage was below $200. The task of reaching an average wage of $500 in equivalent terms in the region by December of this year is realistically achievable. The nominal accrued average monthly wage in the region in August, compared to July, increased by Br147.2 thousand and amounted to Br3786.2 thousand, or $454.3 in equivalent terms; in the pre-crisis year of 2010, it was only $387 in equivalent terms. As Svetlana Tarasenko noted, the Mogilev region is among the leaders in terms of wage growth rate among other regions of the country. For example, in August, the nominal accrued average wage growth compared to the same period last year was 209.5%, and real wages increased by 34.6% during the specified period. In terms of wage levels, the Mogilev region consistently holds third place, ahead of Vitebsk, Grodno, and Brest regions. -0-
