Alena Zharnasek, a sales assistant with many years of experience, loves her job very much and has long earned the respect and authority of her colleagues. However, the woman herself probably did not imagine that she, like a true guardian of law and order, would have to detain an offender.
...The district internal affairs department received a report that a thief was attempting to steal a pair of winter boots from a shop. The theft was attempted by a 30-year-old man who, over the past five years, had been brought to administrative responsibility more than thirty times for petty theft, as well as three times for criminal responsibility. In the sales area, he immediately aroused suspicion among the sales assistants. And it was not unfounded. The man openly took a pair of women's boots worth 390 thousand rubles from the storage room. Seeing this, Alena Petrovna did not lose her head, caught up with him, and detained him. Both the police officers and the shop employees were pleasantly impressed by the courage and determination of the sales assistant. Knowing how dangerous it is to confront a criminal, Alena Petrovna overcame her inner fear. Her persistence and determination embarrassed the thief. He had no choice but to admit his guilt.
To express sincere words of gratitude to Alena Petrovna for her courageous act, the head of the district internal affairs department, police lieutenant colonel Nikolai Latyshov, visited the STAA “Belvest” shop.

-- How did your career in trade begin? -- I ask Alena Petrovna.
-- I dreamed of being a shop assistant since childhood, -- admits Alena Petrovna. -- I was born and raised in the village of Stai, finished secondary school here, and applied to the Polotsk Cooperative Vocational School.
Alena Petrovna's studies in her specialty aroused particular interest. By distribution, she came to work in her native Lepel region in 1989. She worked as a shop assistant in various trade enterprises and in private trade. Alena Petrovna has only been working at the STAA “Belvest” shop for two years.
-- How did you manage to overcome fear during the apprehension of the offender?
-- You know, when I noticed that a theft had occurred, my first thought was that the thief had to be apprehended. While chasing him, I didn't even think about the danger. In general, in life, I can always stand up for myself, my relatives, loved ones, and friends.
Alena Petrovna's success was wholeheartedly celebrated not only by her colleagues but also by her relatives and loved ones. Her husband, Alexander Stefanovich, has dedicated his life to road construction and works at DRBU-202. Their elder son, Sergey, who turned 20, also works there. Their daughter Irina, who is in the sixth grade of secondary school No. 1, takes an example from her dear mother in everything.
Alena Petrovna overcomes all life's difficulties with optimism, loves her work, and is sincere and open towards people. This is the secret of her professional success. And may it always be so.
