The formation of precinct commissions for the election of the President of Belarus is being completed today, November 3, BELTA was informed at the Central Election Commission for Elections and Referendums of the Republic. A total of 6,346 precinct election commissions will be formed across Belarus. Each of them can include from 5 to 19 members. More than 84,000 people are vying for seats in these commissions, including over 34,800 citizens who nominated their candidacies by submitting applications, over 16,300 representatives of work collectives, and almost 33,000 representatives of political parties and public associations. In accordance with the requirements of the Electoral Code, at least one-third of the seats in the precinct commissions must be filled by representatives of parties and public associations, and no more than one-third by civil servants. As for the candidates from whom Belarusian citizens will elect the head of state on December 19, they will be determined by November 23. For now, territorial commissions continue to verify the authenticity of signatures submitted by 11 potential candidates. They have until November 8 to do this, after which the protocols with data on the number of signatures in support of the candidates will be transferred to the regional and Minsk city commissions, and then to the CEC. -0-
