At the same time, Ukrainian customs officers do not rule out that the simplified system of movement across the borders with Belarus and Russia may be extended after "Euro 2012". This was stated today at a press conference by the Chairman of the State Customs Service of Ukraine, Igor Kaletnik, reports a BELTA correspondent. A trilateral memorandum of intent between the State Customs Committee of Belarus, the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation and the State Customs Service of Ukraine on cooperation during the 2012 European Football Championship was signed today in Vitebsk. The memorandum provides for the simplification of customs procedures for the movement of individuals and goods during the football championship. In particular, it concerns the creation of "green corridors" and the synchronization of checkpoint operations. During the meeting, the actions to be taken by customs authorities during the championship in the law enforcement sphere were also discussed. "If this pilot project proves to be effective, it may be extended beyond the framework of 'Euro 2012'," added Igor Kaletnik. The list of actions of the customs services in the memorandum is clearly defined. For the convenience of fans, the standard staffing of customs officers will be fully maintained. "For us, this is also a training exercise for the upcoming 2014 World Hockey Championship. Similar agreements will be concluded on the eve of its holding with our neighbours," said the Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Belarus, Alexander Shpilevsky. A meeting of the joint board of customs services of the member states of the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan was held today in Vitebsk. Ukraine participated in it as an observer.-0-
