"Land Amnesty" to continue until January 1, 2028

— In the Lepel district, 51 land plots have been granted to citizens for legalisation purposes. 148 land plots have been voluntarily vacated. 71 are under consideration (applications have been submitted), — Viktor Nikolaevich began our conversation with figures. — We remind you that the period for land users to apply for and legalise self-occupied land plots has been extended until January 1, 2028. Previously, the deadline for this was September 1, 2025.

It should also be known that the "land amnesty" only applies to cases of unauthorised occupation recorded before September 1, 2022. It is not possible to circumvent this. Citizens must provide documentary evidence that the unauthorised construction appeared before this period.

After the specified period expires, decisions regarding unauthorised construction will be made in accordance with the provisions of Article 223 of the Civil Code of the Republic of Belarus, which stipulates that unauthorised constructions on self-occupied land plots are subject to demolition, and land plots are to be brought into a state suitable for their intended use and returned to the previous land user.

— Can all violations be legalised?

— Not all violations can be legalised. Land plots where urban planning, construction, sanitary, fire safety, and other regulations are significantly violated, as well as those posing danger and threat to human life, will not pass this procedure. And, importantly, this includes cases with land disputes with neighbours, court decisions on property division, and others.

Citizens have almost 3 years to put their land in order. This is an opportunity not to be outside the law and not to create trouble for their heirs. And for those planning to buy a plot, it's a chance to avoid problems from previous owners. This is the right to bring all documents into compliance without fines, protocols, or court proceedings. And every violator can take advantage of this opportunity, becoming the true owner of their land.

We ask citizens not to wait until January 2028, but to start organising their title documents now.

In total, according to the inventory, more than 750 cases of self-occupied land plots have been identified in the district.
