On January 24, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. A gender battle has been declared on the roads of the Vitebsk region. The focus of radar sights and vigilant State Automobile Inspectorate officers is on female drivers. The reason for the collapse of equality is not in anecdotes, but in numerous and sometimes fatal traffic violations by the fairer sex, the agitation and propaganda department of the traffic police department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. In the Vitebsk region, due to the fault of female drivers in 2011, 73 accidents occurred, in which 11 people died and over 80 received injuries of varying severity. Almost 20,000 women were brought to administrative responsibility for various traffic violations. At the same time, seven women drove under the influence of alcohol for the second time within a year, 357 drove without a license, 927 ignored the use of seat belts, 236 talked on their mobile phones while driving, and 170 exceeded the speed limit. The boiling point for the regional State Automobile Inspectorate was the accident that occurred on the afternoon of January 22 in the Lepel district. Due to the fault of a 22-year-old resident of the village of Novye Volosovichi with one and a half years of driving experience, who did not take into account the difficult weather conditions and grossly violated traffic rules (drove into the oncoming lane), her own young daughter born in 2008 and a resident of Vitebsk born in 1986 died, and four more people, including the driver herself, were injured. The State Automobile Inspectorate of the Vitebsk region is strengthening control over women driving vehicles. Traffic police inspectors will pay special attention to those with less than two years of driving experience. "We have a huge request to this category of road users: if you doubt your skills and do not have enough driving experience, do not risk your life and the lives of those in your car," the traffic police department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee appealed to female drivers. As emphasized by the traffic police, restoring lost trust in female drivers is possible only by strictly observing traffic rules and setting an example of behavior on the roads for all other road users, including male drivers. -0-
