The report of the incident in the village of Borovka was received by the Central Operations Department of Verkhnedvinsk District Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations at 20:55. As a result of the collapse of a brick gable end into the interior of a log house faced with brick, the ceiling was damaged in two rooms. The total area of collapse was 10 sq. m. The homeowner, born in 1958, and her 79-year-old father living with her were not injured.
MES units carried out work to clear the attic space of bricks. "The heating and electricity supply of the house were not disrupted," noted Marina Fando, adding that an operational meeting would be held today under the chairperson of the Emergency Situations Commission to discuss the restoration of the damaged structures of the house.
In total, as a result of strong winds in Vitebsk region, the electricity supply was disrupted in 103 settlements in 13 districts. The most affected districts were Braslavsky, Shumilinsky, Lepelsky, Vitebsky, Lioznensky, Dokshitsky, Miorsky, Orshansky, and Gluboksky. As of 06:00 on 20 March, work continued to restore electricity supply to 46 settlements. -0-
