A fine of Br4 million was imposed on a resident of the village of Barsuki, Dokshitsky district, Vitebsk region, for a "trip for firewood for brooms", the press service of the State Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora under the President of Belarus informed BELTA. The man was detained by employees of the Operational Response Department of the State Inspectorate with an unregistered rifle without a permit for shooting animals in hunting grounds. As explained in the press service, this is equivalent to hunting. "The detainee explained to the state inspectors that he found the rifle in the forest when he went to break branches for brooms. According to him, the weapon was assembled and loaded, and he picked it up to take it to the police," the State Inspectorate said. "At the same time, the man transported the rifle in a rather strange way: hiding it under his jacket on his shoulder." The Dokshitsky District Court passed a sentence in the case of violation of the Rules for Hunting Management and Hunting, according to which the offender was sentenced to pay a fine of 40 base units (currently one base unit is Br100 thousand) with confiscation of weapons and deprivation of the right to hunt for 3 years.-0-
