19 April, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Cigarettes to a total value of almost Br240 million were found in the shed and garage of a resident of Miory and seized, Denis Glebko, assistant head of the Polotsk Border Guard Detachment for Media Relations, told a BELTA correspondent. On the evening of April 18, during the verification of operational information, Polotsk border guards, jointly with the Vitebsk Regional Department of the KGB, the Novopolotsk Inter-district Department of the DFR of the State Control Committee, and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes of the Miory District Department of Internal Affairs, discovered and seized 87.5 thousand packs of cigarettes of various brands in the outbuildings and garage on the property of a Miory resident. These tobacco products have been seized, and the goods have been transferred to the Novopolotsk Inter-district Department of the DFR of the State Control Committee. The estimated value is Br239.3 million. As Denis Glebko noted, this citizen had previously been detained as a participant in a group of individuals attempting to illegally move 12,000 packs of cigarettes worth Br33.6 million across the state border. It is likely that the seized 87.5 thousand packs of cigarettes were intended for illegal movement across the state border from the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Latvia. Signs of an offense under Part 1 of Article 12.23 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus are evident in relation to the citizen - violation of the procedure for the circulation of alcoholic, non-food alcohol-containing products, ethyl alcohol, tobacco raw materials and tobacco products. Earlier, on April 17, during the verification of operational information, Polotsk border guards, jointly with the Vitebsk Regional Department of the KGB and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes of the Miory District Department of Internal Affairs, discovered and seized 256 packs of cigarettes in the outbuildings on the property of another Miory resident.-0-
