Polotsk border guards at the simplified checkpoint "Vidzy" found a hidden compartment equipped in the car's sills while inspecting a Peugeot 607 passenger car, the driver of which planned to travel to Lithuania. In total, during an in-depth inspection of the car, 664 packs of cigarettes with Belarusian excise stamps were discovered. The illegal cigarettes have been seized. The smuggler's car has been detained pending a court decision. "As a rule, smugglers try to illegally transport cigarettes with Belarusian excise stamps, but at the end of October, Russian-made cigarettes worth Br636 million were found in a hidden compartment in the semi-trailer of a DAF truck," Denis Glebko noted. -0-
