Vitebsk Region Residents Participate in May Day Gatherings

Over 500 people are taking part in the festive labour event "Peace. Labour. May", which is taking place in the park of the 30th anniversary of Komsomol.

The participants of the event include the administration, work collectives, educational institutions, public organizations, and residents of the Pervomaisky District of Vitebsk. Adults and children are engaged in improving the park of the 30th anniversary of Komsomol: they are cleaning up litter and fallen leaves, painting benches, and planting flowers. They are also simply celebrating Labour Day, as the park features numerous interactive zones where everyone can find entertainment to their liking.
– The slogan "Peace. Labour. May" has not lost its relevance. We all continue to value peace, which is particularly important today, we remember that fruitful work is the key to the success of our district, city, and country, and May for us is still associated with the celebration of spring and renewal, – noted the head of the administration of the Pervomaisky District, Yevgeny Semyonyshev, in his welcoming speech. – It is no coincidence that the park of the 30th anniversary of Komsomol was chosen as the venue for Labour Day, as we plan to give it a new life. In April, we already installed 50 birdhouses here, which are a true work of art, and now we are continuing the park's improvement.

The plans of the administration of the Pervomaisky District include renovating the benches in the park, installing litter bins, creating small architectural forms, eye-catching art objects, and much more. The complete renovation of the park of the 30th anniversary of Komsomol will take place in the summer.

The park of the 30th anniversary of Komsomol was laid out between Maksim Gorky Street and the right bank of the Western Dvina in the late 1940s by Komsomol members of the KIM Hosiery and Knitwear Factory. It was reconstructed in the 1950s. On an area of 3 hectares, about 200 trees and shrubs have been planted – Canadian and pyramidal poplars, common ash, birches, Norway maples, and red maples. The main alley of the park leads to the river beach. In the spring of 1968, the "Komsomolets" sports palace was built on the northern outskirts.

The city of oil refiners widely celebrated May Day. Events dedicated to Labour Day were held here until late in the evening. Thanks to the diverse program, everyone found something to their interests and liking.

Representatives of public organizations actively participated in the celebration – the Federation of Trade Unions, the "Belaya Rus" public association, the BRSM, the Belarusian Women's Union, the Red Cross, and others.

The main events unfolded in the Park of Culture and Recreation. Here, the best of the best workers of Novopolotsk were honored, and presentation areas of enterprises and organizations, as well as educational institutions of the city, were set up. Creative and sports locations were in high demand.

The atmosphere was truly inspiring and energizing. While middle-aged people enjoyed the concert, the youth were engaged in a presentation of professions organized by the city's leading enterprises. The exhibition of decorative and applied arts offered many interesting items. The Craft and Traditional Culture Center's platform featured fascinating innovations in the form of masterclasses. Additionally, there were attractions, tastings of delicacies from the local bakery, and other surprises from the organizers.

Special attention from children and teenagers was drawn to a location where volunteers assisting homeless animals gathered. A mercy campaign "Be a Friend" was held here, collecting aid for the temporary shelter of abandoned pets. A veterinarian was on hand to consult animal lovers. Some stray animals even found their new homes right there...

And this is as it should be – kindness, diligence, and compassion always go hand in hand.

The festive May Day gathering took place in Orsha. The trade union activists of the district, led by the Chairperson of the Orsha District Trade Union Association, Oksana Pustoshilo, participated in the events.

The flash mob "All Professions Are Needed - All Professions Are Important!" was organized by the Miory District Trade Union Association for Labour Day.

Festive events were held in the central park of the regional center - Victory Park.

The event "The Park Gathers Friends" took place at the complex of cultural and recreational facilities named after the Soviet Army.

In Polotsk, educational institutions of Polotsk joined the trade union May Day gathering on F. Skorina Square, including the trade union activists of the medical college led by the Chairperson of the Student Primary Trade Union Organization, Yulia Tyukhlova.
