The Sennensky District Prosecutor's Office assisted a family in restoring their violated housing rights – a high-quality roof repair was carried out upon the prosecutor's demand. This is reported by BELTA with reference to the information service of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
A local resident approached the district prosecutor's office for a personal appointment regarding the improper provision of housing and communal services due to repeated leaks in the roof of a multi-apartment residential building. In accordance with the Technical Normative Legal Act "Technical Condition and Maintenance of Buildings and Structures. Basic Requirements," roof covering defects (leaks) must be eliminated within 24 hours.
Upon visiting the site, a prosecutor's employee inspected the applicant's apartment and documented leaks in the roof covering, ingress of atmospheric precipitation into the living quarters, which consequently led to dampness and damage to the ceiling, wallpaper, and other property, as well as the forced disconnection of electricity to prevent short circuits.
The applicant had repeatedly contacted the AS "Dispatch Service" regarding the roof leak since September 2023; however, the problem of the leaking roof remained unresolved. The woman's justified appeal to the district prosecutor's office resulted from the prolonged inaction of the district's housing and communal services employees in carrying out a quality repair of the residential building's roof, which led to the flooding of the applicant's apartment, where three minor children reside.
To protect the rights and interests of the citizens residing in the apartment, the Prosecutor of Sennensky District submitted a representation to UP "Sennensky ZhKKh" (Sennensky Housing and Communal Services Enterprise), demanding the performance of current repairs to the roof covering. The act of prosecutorial supervision has been executed, and violations of housing legislation have been rectified – the apartment residents have been provided with adequate living conditions.
