The "August Saviour Festivals" will bring together fans of spiritual creativity and culture in Beshenkovichi District, the festival director Alesya Tsepoto told a BELTA correspondent.
The event, dedicated to the August Orthodox holidays – Apple, Honey, and Nut (also sometimes called Bread or Flax) Saviours, will take place in the agro-town of Botcheikovo on August 19. It will open with a festive service in the Transfiguration Church. All participants will be blessed by the church rector, Father Sergey, after which the numerous festive events will officially commence. Exhibitions of spiritual literature and children's drawings from Botcheikovo Secondary School, and an exhibition of embroidered icons by local craftswoman Nadezhda Krasko will be opened. The bravest can take part in the poetry contest "Božyja iskrinki" for reciting poems and prose of a spiritual nature.
Gourmets will be offered to sample Belarusian national cuisine. Dance enthusiasts are invited to the stage where local amateur art groups will perform. Everyone will also be able to purchase beekeeping products at the "Na myadok razyaŭ ratok" exhibition-sale, as well as clay, vine, and straw items from folk craft masters. Children will enjoy various contests and attractions, including the "Tsok-tsyhirokk" program, prepared based on Belarusian folk games.
"This festival is being organized for the first time, however, a considerable interest from local residents is already felt. We plan to make it a signature event of Beshenkovichi District," noted Alesya Tsepoto.
