"A check is necessary if the parents themselves ask for it, or if teachers consult with parents and advise them to pay attention, or if teachers see that something is wrong with the children. Then, after consulting with psychologists and doctors, such a check can be carried out. But I would refrain from introducing universal screening," said Mikhail Zhuravkov.
As previously reported, in Belarus, at least once a year, psychosocial questionnaires will be administered among schoolchildren who have reached the age of 11, as well as among students of secondary vocational education institutions. Its purpose is to identify those who are prone to addictive behavior, i.e., may become addicted to drugs or alcohol. If necessary, a medical examination may be conducted after the questionnaire. Such a questionnaire and subsequent medical examination of students who have not yet reached the age of 14 may only be carried out with the written consent of parents or legal representatives.
