Life is given to create life
These words on a banner in the reading room of the district library belong to the Belarusian poet Anatol Vertinsky. They became the motto of his meeting, as well as poets Leonid Dranko-Maysyuk and Eduard Akulin, with the residents of Lepel. The meeting was timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of our countryman Anatol Vertinsky, who was born in the village of Demeshkovo, Bobrovsky village council.
At the very beginning, Lepel poet Svetlana Yakubovskaya greeted the jubilarian. Greetings were also delivered in verse by Artem Khryshchanka, an eighth-grader from Pyshno, Lena Pshonka, a ninth-grader from Secondary School No. 3, and Volodya Lapyonok, a ninth-grader from the gymnasium. The poets-masters were particularly impressed by Kolya Gutnik, a third-grader from Stay.
The performance of Pasha Zhamosek, a fifth-grader from Stay, demonstrated the connection between generations. His mother, Alena Zhamosek, a teacher of Belarusian language and literature, recalled how, as a ninth-grader, she played a role in Anatol Vertinsky's play "Say Your Word, Soldier," which the students of Stay staged for the meeting with the famous poet. And now her son Pasha is meeting him.
Writer Vladimir Mikhno, a long-time acquaintance of the capital's poets, wrote a congratulatory poem specifically for the meeting.
“…The poet’s bright, original talent helps readers to understand people and the world more deeply…” – it was stated in the congratulation from the district executive committee.
Anatol Vertinsky listened attentively to the warm words addressed to him.
Leonid Dranko-Maysyuk spoke about how he first encountered the works of Anatol Vertinsky.
Eduard Akulin, editor-in-chief of "Verasen" magazine, performed a song about Yanka Kupala on his guitar.
The guests from Minsk were also expected at the Matyrinskaya school, one might say: in the homeland of Anatol Vertinsky, as Matyrino and Demeshkovo are separated by about a kilometer of asphalt.
