"Why is Lepel called Lepel: a historical excursion" – this event marked the beginning of the "Teenage Meridian" series of classes at the Central District Library.

The "Teenage Meridian" series of classes at the Central District Library began with an event titled "Why is Lepel called Lepel: a historical excursion". Galina Tishkevich, a librarian, introduced the college freshmen from other districts to the past of the Lepel region. She not only revealed the origins of the name but also showed books containing interesting information about our locality. A copy of one of these books, D. I. Dovgyallo's "Lepel, a district town of Vitebsk Governorate, a chronicle of past life" from 1905, was recently received from the National Library. The students also learned about the city's present day through a multimedia presentation. Incidentally, this introduction to the Lepel region did not end there. As part of the program, the young people will attend five more planned classes on local history topics.
