The plant species is Canadian goldenrod. Many grow it as an ornamental flower, completely unaware that in recent years, Canadian goldenrod has been declared an enemy in our country, no less dangerous than Sosnowsky's hogweed.
In terms of speed and scale of spread, Canadian goldenrod surpasses many other plants by several times. If not destroyed in time, it will displace everything that grows around it. Each goldenrod bush produces up to 100,000 seeds, which have a very high germination rate – up to 95%. The roots of this plant produce inhibitors – substances that suppress the growth of other plants. Following this, most meadow insects, birds, and small mammals disappear. Thus, by occupying any area, goldenrod completely alters its animal and plant world.
In order to stop the spread of this dangerous territory conqueror, it is necessary, firstly, to stop decorating front gardens with this flower. After all, its seeds are carried very quickly by the wind, leading to the appearance of new foci of its origin. Secondly, Canadian goldenrod must be mown before flowering and seed ripening. Otherwise, the plants will have to be burned.
Mowing should be done multiple times per season. And so for several years in a row, until complete eradication. Only a targeted fight against this pest will yield a positive result and prevent it from occupying and destroying agricultural land.
