About 521,000 tourists visited Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park in 2023, Oksana Bogaleisha, Head for Tourism, Marketing and Advertising at Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park told BelTA.
The tourist flow increased by 6% over 2022. Moreover, the number of foreign visitors increased by more than a third up to 74,000. Eco-tourism was actively promoted along with cultural tourism. The park offered excursions to the wildlife and safari tours.
"All types of tourism are developing evenly. Some of them are season-specific. In the warm season, cycling tourism is the most popular, in the winter season - the estate of Belarusian Ded Moroz (Father Frost) is a top draw," Oksana Bogaleisha noted. In fact, last year the fairy-tale estate became the heart of festivities when the national park celebrated the 20th anniversary of the estate. Over these years, more than 2.1 million people have visited Belarusian Ded Moroz.
Meanwhile, the national park improved and renovated tourist facilities and recreational areas. The work will be continued this year.
"A calendar of tourist events for 2024 has been prepared. Every month we offer interesting events for tourists," Oksana Bogaleisha said. “This year Snegurochka's (Snow Maiden’s) farewell will be held at the estate of Father Frost on 17 February. Earlier the farewell was co-located with Maslenitsa. This year we decided to celebrate Maslenitsa in the archaeological open air museum on 16 March. We wanted to do it differently this time. Tourists also like the cycling season that will open in April".
Themed excursions, an amateur arts festival, Kupalye, a jam festival, a day of living archaeology and other events are also planned.
