Belarus, China discuss cooperation in law enforcement

China is hosting a meeting of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum. A delegation of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs is headed by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Dmitry Korzyuk, BelTA learned from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The forum brought together representatives of Argentina, Brazil, Serbia, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Egypt and Pakistan.

On the sidelines of the forum, a meeting was held between China's Vice Minister of Public Security Xu Ganlu and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Dmitry Korzyuk on the initiative of the Chinese side. The parties agreed on mutual training of personnel, and also shared their views on the further development of cooperation. Xu Ganlu expressed interest in the methods used in Belarus to combat extremism and terrorism.

"We are ready to offer training programs for Chinese colleagues at the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Academy and the Mogilev Institute," Dmitry Korzyuk noted. "We also fully support the bilateral agreement to host children of employees killed or injured in the line of duty on visits in our countries. We appreciate that you share the initiatives and understand the situation near the borders with Belarus. I would like to assure you that the country's law enforcement agencies are doing everything possible to ensure the security and development of the country."

Xu Ganlu expressed hope for even closer cooperation between the ministries. He stressed that the Belarusian law enforcement agencies are reliable partners of China.

Dmitry Korzyuk also met with chairman of the forum Zeng Weixiong to discuss the current trends in law enforcement. Dmitry Korzyuk invited Zeng Weixiong to visit Belarus to see the innovations used in the country to ensure national security.
