The new security architecture in Eurasia should be aimed at overcoming dividing lines and creating a single, indivisible safe space for all, Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Kairat Sarybay said speaking at the 2nd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security on 31 October, BelTA has learned.
Kairat Sarybay expressed gratitude to the organizers of the conference and thanked for the opportunity to speak at it. “The world is going through difficult times. The erosion of the security architecture has led to a large-scale security crisis on our Eurasian continent, especially in the European part of our continent. The hotbeds of conflicts, which have significant destructive potential, persist in South and East Asia as well. Obviously, all this is caused by a significant crisis of trust between the actors, which makes it difficult to find a solution,” he said.
According to Kairat Sarybay, under the current conditions of geopolitical fracture and new dividing lines, multilateralism and inclusiveness become the only possible approach in ensuring peace and stability. “The new security architecture on the Eurasian continent, in my opinion, should be aimed at overcoming these dividing lines and creating a single, indivisible security space for all,” the CICA secretary general said.
