Cooperation between Belarus and Russian regions is very intensive and relies on specific agreements, Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko said during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Boris Gryzlov in Minsk on 27 May, BelTA has learned.

"You have a first-hand experience of parliamentary work. You headed the State Duma of the Russian Federation for a certain period and worked as a MP," the speaker said addressing the Russian ambassador.

"Cooperation between Belarus and Russian regions is very intensive and the most important thing is that it relies on specific agreements," Igor Sergeyenko stressed. "Trade and economic cooperation has been picking up pace, the products made in the two countries enjoy high demand. MPs contribute to this work, including within the framework of the Parliamentary Assembly. Currently we are preparing for the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia on 17 June."

The speaker also noted the frequent trips of Russian governors to Belarus.
