Council of Republic approves ratification of Belarusian-Italian agreement on children’s recuperation holidays

The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus has approved the ratification of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Italian agreement stipulating terms and conditions of children’s recuperation holidays in Italy. The document was signed in May this year in Minsk, chairman of the permanent commission for international affairs and national security of the upper house of the Belarusian Parliament Nikolai Cherginets reminded. The agreement is aimed to provide additional social security guarantees to Belarusian children during their stay in Italy as well as guarantees of their timely return home. In accordance with the agreement, orphaned children from regions affected by the Chernobyl catastrophe as well as children from disadvantaged families and children suffering from serious diseases will be sent for recuperation holidays to Italy. The Italian party will cover transportation, insurance and accommodation expenses. The document also stipulates that children should timely return home upon the end of the holidays. Nikolai Cherginets specified that the agreement was signed for five years and can be automatically prolonged for the next five years.
