Investments in Belgospischeprom canneries of increased by 55.1% in January – September 2007

Canneries of the Belgospischeprom concern have attracted Br4.3 billion of capital investments over the nine months, or up 55.1% from the same period last year, Igor Shustov, chief of the department of technological advancement, capital construction and investment of the concern, told BelTA. According to him, the investments were mainly put into reconstruction of three canneries as stipulated in the national canned fruits and vegetables production programme adopted in January 2006. Thus the Vitebsk fruit and vegetable processing facility reconstructed the canning and semi-products shops this year, and sent in service a quick freezing facility for raw materials in September. Belgospischeprom has assigned Br3.3 billion from its innovation support fund for these projects in 2007. Kletsk cannery utilised Br1.9 billion of investments from its own assets and Belgospischeprom’ innovation support fund to upgrade its boiler-room with energy-saving equipment. Malorita cannery and vegetable dehydration plant started preparatory work to refit the canning shop. The company is currently working on the estimate documents. The company has chosen the general contractor and signed a design contract with the Polesyezhilstroy company. The company has advanced payment of Br48.8 million. The projects are expected to double the production. More than 80% of products will be produced in modern packing.
