Ensuring national security is a common task – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, at today’s meeting of the Security Council focusing on the consideration of the draft projects of the National Security Concept and Military Doctrine
The Head of State stressed that the new Military Doctrine takes into account the ongoing significant changes in the military-political situation, and new military challengers are fully met. “The approaches to determining the nature of modern military conflicts in the interests of developing adequate response measures for the armed protection of the country have been updated,” he said.
The agenda of today’s meeting included this issue as well. The President recalled that, following a meeting of the Security Council last year, he had given relevant instructions, “The task was outlined and set: to informally approach the preparation of the new National Security Concept, to submit it for wide public discussion with the involvement of representatives of the scientific, expert community and the media, to discuss the document in detail and to ask people's opinion. After all, ensuring national security is our common task. It is a task of every citizen of Belarus.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko asked the participants of the meeting what concrete result had been obtained following the concept’s public discussion, whether the Security Council members agreed with the proposed amendments and additions, whether they wished to make other proposals.
